It has to be kept in mind that generally these dog breeds are good with children. However, any dog, despite its breed, can be a threat to children. As such, they should be properly supervised. Both the dog and the children should be instructed on how to behave with each other.

Some of these best small dogs are said to be non-shedding, but if you do have allergies, then you should take advice from your doctor before getting one.

Puppies nip and young children pull tails, both these and other bad traits are to be discouraged. Your dog should be trained at how to behave towards the children, while the children need also to be taught how to handle the dog. For example, never to touch the dog while it is eating or sleeping. Dog’s should never be left unsupervised with children, no matter how friendly they usually appear to be.
Small Dog Syndrome
Small dogs have a bad name for being yappy and snappy. The truth of the matter is that small dogs are no different than larger dogs. The only difference is that we treat them differently. Smaller dogs, because they are cute, are allowed to get away with bad behaviour. We treat them like babies and overprotect them, allowing them to have what is called ‘small dog syndrome’, where they think that they are the boss. This must be nipped in the bud early if you’re going to experience a happy life together with your pooch .
